5 most delicious dishes you should taste only in Adjara

Distinctive traditions of Georgian cuisine and feast are one of the reasons that attract tourists to our country. Adjarian cuisine has been greatly influenced by the lifestyle of the mountainous regions, which is why dairy products are a major component of local dishes. This region is also special with local traditional cuisine. There are dishes that you just have to taste here.

  1. Every region of Georgia is characterized by different types of khachapuri, but Adjarian khachapuri differs in both form and preparation. It is a navy-shaped open khachapuri with cheese, butter and raw eggs in the middle. Adjarian khachapuri is undoubtedly the image and business card of the people of Batumi. This dessert was introduced to Georgian cuisine as a result of Turkish influence and its Adjarian version was created afterwards. It is the most popular sweets in Batumi. Adjarian baklava is sweet, crunchy and saturated with syrup. It is made with very thin layers of dough, finely ground walnuts or hazelnuts, boiled butter is added between the layers. The syrup is poured over the baked sweets. You can taste the baklava when it cools down and the sweetness saturates the layers well.
  5. Sinori is another distinctive and nutritious Adjarian dish. These are thin layers of baked dough made with cottage cheese, garlic, and butter (or boiled butter). It is at a nutritious and at the same time, unusually gentle and airy dish.
