Adjara is one of the oldest centers of viticulture and winemaking from the regions of Western Georgia. The route of highland Adjara wine is relevant at any time of the year to discover rich cuisine and unique local wine types. Viticulture in Adjara has been well developed since ancient times and the number of local vine varieties reached 80 units. More than 50 varieties of aboriginal and introduced vines of different maturity and color have been established in the region and are still preserved. Unique types of wine such as "Kedi Tsolikauri" and "Chkhaveri" are produced in Adjara. Today, the total area of ​​vineyards in Adjara is 180 hectares. Among them Tsolikauri vineyard 70%, Chkhaveri 8%, the remaining 22% are represented by various local and introduced vine varieties.

Keda Municipality is considered to be the historical center of viticulture in Adjara. The wines "Tsolikauri" and "Chkhaveri" produced here are very popular among both Georgian and foreign consumers.

Chkhaveri - is a pink grape vine variety, from which the wine is distinguished by its pink glow and delicate aroma. Provides high quality wine material. "Chkhaveri" is a light straw-coloured wine with pink hues, a very gentle, harmonious bouquet and a varietal aroma. It is also used to make sparkling wines. Harvest begins late, in the second half of November.

Tsolikauri - white grape vine wine variety, from which Tsolikauri table wine is made. Develops a medium-sized conical or broadly conical, rounded bunch. It is distinguished by low yield, high quality of wine, resistance to fungal diseases, good ability to adapt to the environment. It is an industrial variety, from which local and European type table and naturally semi-sweet wines are made. Tsolikauri, as an ancient Georgian variety, has many variations and clones.
